FAQs
Why catch wrestling?
The general public thinks that regular jiu jitsu competitions are boring to watch, which if you don't train jiu jitsu then we can understand that frame of thought.
After meeting Jake Shannon (the pioneer of modern catch) and learning more about his movement and vision we realized that Catch As Catch Can Wrestling bridges the gap in rule-set, and style of play, when it comes to wrestler versus jiu jitsu player.
More importantly using the King of Catch rules and the Shoot Pro Wrestling energy into these match-ups brings more entertainment value to the general public then other grappling tournaments and competitions, which at the end of the day is all that matters.
Who can compete in these events?
If you have grappling experience and can put on a good show then you might want to come to one of our micro-qualifiers where you will be evaluated on your matches and your performance will be filmed for scouting purposes. If you put on a good performance in the ring then you might get an invite you to one of our public shows.
Our events our typically hosted either in person (live shows) or online it is important that we showcase exciting match-ups that will keep the general public excited and engaged. We approve competitors for our public shows based on their skill level and personality.
I am a former high school wrestler and my submission game is not up to par. Is this for me ?
Well, all you have to do is avoid a submission and pin your opponent's shoulders for a three-count using our King of Catch sanctioned rules. If you can do that then yes!
I am a submission grappler tired of losing by points to stallers at jiu jitsu tournaments, what is your point system?
We have no point system WHATSOEVER!
